Did a two mile loop on one of my spots the other day and found just over a gallon of fruit, of what's ripe ive got about 3c of pulp. Rest are on the counter atm. I'll wait till after the osta convention before hunting em again. |

Pawpaws are delicate and even in a day some deteriorated. We cant pick them.all.off the tree cause our trees are way to tall. But we tried and we didn't go in the hole..we did make decent money...but not what we thoight ..so we're ok with that. IF IDIOTS GREW ON TREES THIS PLACE WOULD BE AN ORCHARD ! |

Why are the seeds so valuable?? Sorry, I'd never pay north of $5 a pound for any fruit. I don't care how delicious it is. They share some flavors with mango but not related. They're in the custard apple and soursop family. They can also have banana, pineapple and bubble gum flavors. Among trees, id wager pawpaws are probably the most popular or fast becoming so fruit tree to grow it's being planted all around the world now. Seeds are a bit cantankerous to take care of and to get to germinate. Most seeds are grown for root stock purposes so people can graft named varieties onto them . Also the grafting cuts a few years out of the time to produce fruit. Price of the fruit is mainly due to the fact that they are only edible for a period of time unless you've frozen the pulp or made it into something that lasts longer. They don't transport well and don't ripen that well on the counter if you find some unripe ones. |
